2008 FIGAWI RACE NOTICE AND CONDITIONS
Coming this Spring!

To view the 2007 NOR please read below:

1. Eligibility

Figawi Race is open to mono hull cruising/racing boats 24 feet and over LOA, of displacement hulls with a PHRF racing rating no higher than 210.

(a) Have a 2007 PHRF NE handicap. (We do not accept PHRF NB)

(b) Conform with Offshore Racing Council Special Regulations Governing Minimum Equipment and Accommodations Standards for Category 3. (See equipment below)

(c) All boat skippers (including power entries) must be members of US Sailing Association.

Equipment

The PHRF fleet must comply with ORC Special Regulations Equipment List for Category 3 in its entirety. Please pay special attention to the following provisions of the list.

1. All boats must have lifelines in accordance with Section 3.11

2. All boats must carry a marine radio in accordance with Section 3.24

3. All boats must have sail numbers ON THE SAIL (not manufacturers numbers or logos) in accordance with Section
4.0.1

4. All boats must carry personal equipment (lifejackets, etc) in accordance with Section 5

Note US Sailing prescription Section 5.01:

"All personnel on deck shall wear personal flotation while starting and finishing without exception, and at all other times except when the Captain of the boat directs that it may be set aside."

Note US Sailing prescription Section 5.07:

"The 'Quick Stop' man overboard procedure shall be practiced aboard the boat at least once annually. A certificate of such practice shall be signed by participating crew members and kept aboard the boat."

Rating

All sailboats entering the Figawi Race must have a 2007 PHRF-NE handicap. www.phrfne.org. Obtaining your rating through PHRF NE Cape Cod Fleet helps to expedite your entry before the deadline and ensure a class assignment.

Rules
The rules governing the Race Weekend will be

(a) Current US Sailing Association Racing Rules

(b) This Race Notice, and

(c) The Sailing Instructions, including amendments, which take precedence in case of conflict.

Management
The Race Committee shall have the authority to interpret the Rules and Conditions of the race, decide protests and reject the entry of any boat at anytime prior to the start of the Race. The Race Committee reserves the right to inspect any boat at anytime before or after the race.

Category of Race
The Figawi Race will be sailed in one or more divisions depending on the number of entries and will be on a reverse start basis with each boat starting on her own time. (According to the scratch sheets)

Conduct
The boat owner or skipper will be responsible for the conduct of the crew offshore and onshore, the Committee reserves the right to reject any boat, its skipper and crew from this race or future races in the event of serious breach of conduct. Reasonable safety mandates no water balloons, water fights, or fire crackers.

Entry Procedures
Fill out and submit online entry form found at www.figawi.com. There are no applications mailed out.

NO REFUNDS AFTER MAY 15 FOR ANY REASON INCLUDING CANCELLATION OF RACE.

Fees - Sailboat Entries Only

Entry fee (includes 2 ID bracelets) $300.00
Bracelets, prior to May 1 $75.00
Bracelets, after May 1 $90.00

Identification
A Race Weekend ID bracelet is required for admittance into the Figawi Tent on Saturday and Sunday evening cocktail parties. There are no bracelet sales on Nantucket. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Skippers are responsible for all crew and guests for whom they purchase bracelets.

Children are allowed in tent for the awards ceremony and the clambake (with paid meal ticket) ONLY.

THERE WILL BE NO ENTRY INTO TENT WITHOUT VALID PICTURE ID AGE 21+ AND FIGAWI ID BRACELET.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING MOORINGS AT HYC

Assignee of a mooring, as a material part of the consideration to be rendered to Hyannis Yacht Club, hereby waives all claims against Hyannis Yacht Club and its members for damages to any vessel, boat or ship, in, upon or about the waters or premises of said Hyannis Yacht Club, and for injuries to persons in or about such premises, from any cause arising at any time, and said Assignee will hold said Hyannis Yacht Club and its members exempt and harmless from liability for any damages or injury to any crew and other persons on Assignee's vessel, or equipment of any person arising from the use of the premises by said Assignee, or from the failure of any mooring or failure to keep the premises in good condition and repair.
