51ST ANNUAL FIGAWI RACE WEEKEND
Did you miss out on the fun last year on the mainland? Did you think Figawi wouldn’t be as fabulous as it always is? Luckily, you have another chance to see what you missed!!
Figawi 2022
Friday May 27th kickoff event and registration will be held at Hyannis Yacht Club, We have a few great surprises in the works!
Saturday May 28th and Sunday May 29th 2 DAYS OF RACING on Nantucket Sound with the starting area and finishing area off the Hyannisport Jetty.
There will be award ceremonies, Figawi events around the Hyannis waterfront, great racing, and best of all, the camaraderie that only Figawi can bring.
Stay tuned for an updated and re-launched Figawi.com that will include all the details of Race Registration, Weekend events and schedule, and the official kickoff of the J. David Crawford High School Sailing Invitational.
Why is Figawi not returning this year to its longtime tradition of events on Nantucket?
The planning for Figawi takes about a year. When the decision had to be made in 2021 about returning to ACK in 2022, the Covid uncertainty was still affecting the Town of Nantucket’s permitting for events. In addition, the usual tent venue on ACK had recently become unavailable so it was going to be a year we would have to find a new venue. The choices were slim and all came with a considerable cost and logistics premium.
Will Figawi go back to ACK?
YES!! There is nothing like the camaraderie of strolling the docks of Nantucket Boat Basin after a great day of racing. We know how much you all love being there, we do too! We are already working on a plan for 2023 - Figawi’s return to Nantucket.
The competitive racing is still on, and better than ever with 2 days on the water with world-class race management. The High School event is expanding to include more youth sailors from all over New England.
FIGAWI’s CORE MISSION IS TO PROMOTE THE SPORT of SAILING. The social events will take a little longer to get back to normal and we hope you continue to support us as we work on getting back to where we all want to be.
How can you support Figawi?
Register for the 2022 Race. Compete on Saturday, or Sunday or both! After the race, head to ACK to enjoy your weekend or head to Hyannis and join us for Figawi post-race fun! But by participating in the race, you are helping us get closer to the goal of getting back to ACK.
